1-2-1 Child and Orphan Sponsorship Programs

NEED

As a result of the devastating effects of the tsunami and 30 years of internal conflict, large numbers of the children of Indonesia are orphans or being brought up by single parents. Often an aunt or a grandmother take in children, even though they do not have nearly enough to meet their own basic needs. Severely impoverished families are obliged to give up their children and place them in orphanages to avoid starvation. According to a report published by Save the Children, 83.37% of children in orphanages have families. Many children are undernourished, have health and dental problems and are inadequately clothed and unable to attend school simply because their parents cannot afford to pay for any of the expenses involved. Many parents want the older children to work in the brick factory to contribute to the family income rather than drain it with school uniforms, books and costs associated with schooling.

SCOPE

For just 20 EURO a month, we can prevent a child from being placed in an orphanage and meet basic clothing, food, education and health needs. We are able to assess the needs of the child, monitor their progress and encourage a one-to-one relationship with sponsors, who receive regular updates and photos from us on the child's progress and needs. Regular donations of a small amount each month makes it possible for us to plan with confidence that we have the resources to support the next generation.
