Child Welfare
We urgently need funding to enable us to continue our Programs. All the money we raise goes directly to the charity's beneficiaries. No salaries or expenses are paid to administrators only local staff receive a salary.
NEED
There are no social services in Aceh and no one to monitor and ensure the overall well-being of each child in the villages of Lam Asan, Lam Gapang, Lamboui, Kleng and Lampineung. Through monitoring our childrens' height and weight, we have identified three alone who are NOT suffering from malnourishment.
SCOPE
Chance International has been running a Child Welfare Support Program to help families in Lam Asan and surrounding villages care for their children, with a view to liberating them from their cycle of poverty, preventing separation, encouraging reunification of separated families and encouraging education of children regardless of any disabilities. We implement our Child Welfare Program by:
-
monitoring the attendance of each child at our Educational Support Program, taking note of unusual absences and following up with home visits and enquiries in the community
-
noting any specific health concerns of individual children through our Health Support Program and monitoring access to appropriate health care on a regular basis
- measuring and recording the height and weight of each child monthly
Our beneficiaries are:
-
any family living in poverty which does not have the means to care for their dependants or children
- orphaned children and teenagers who do not have the financial means to continue their education
Chance International urgently need funding to continue our Child Welfare Program. We operate this programme on an as-needed basis as it is impossible to foresee health problems which will arise but we can identify the costs associated with providing milk to the malnourished children of the villages.
