Child Welfare

In just one year since Chance International was established, our achievements include:

ACHIEVEMENTS: We have
  • integrated the neighbouring villages of Lampineung, Lam Gapang, Lamboui and Kling to our Programs at their request
  • developed a record of children living within problematic families or children with disabilities, health issues and extreme poverty
  • monitored and recorded the childrens' height and weight to establish malnutrition cases
  • built a close working relationship with teachers in schools in the region to ensure children are monitored constantly to make certain that any children at risk and not part of our programs are receiving the assistance they need
  • obtained an undertaking by a private individual in Oman to sponsor a deaf and dumb girl in the village to attend a special needs school and receive medical treatment - we are trying to persuade her mother to agree
  • arranged numerous hernia operations for children as young as 8 months, which has involved obtaining funding for the operations as well as persuading parents of the necessity for medical treatment
  • arranging pro bono services from the surgeons
  • supported the older girls in the area in vocational pursuits such as handicrafts
  • established a dance and music program

RESPONSE:
  • parents are beginning to trust us with their children's medical treatment and understand the need to facilitate and encourage their children's education to create opportunities for their futures
  • parents are contributing their labour and time to our Programs free of charge
