Learning Centre Lam Terba

In 2012, I received a phone call from Indrapuri informing me that a teacher from a secluded village in Lam Terba had expressed eagerness to implement our Educational Support program in her community. The warning of its remoteness did little to prepare me for my initial visit to Lam Terba. Journeying through dense forests, navigating across a precarious wooden bridge, and winding along narrow potholed mountainous roads, I quickly realized that the term "remote" was a vast understatement. Despite the challenging journey, the determination and enthusiasm of the teacher in Lam Terba filled me with hope and reaffirmed the importance of our work in providing Educational Support to underserved regions.

At Chance International, we always welcome new challenges with open arms, and our experience in a remote location of Lam Terba truly epitomized this spirit. The prospect of conducting our Educational Support Programs without a phone signal initially seemed daunting, but we were undeterred. What truly caught us by surprise was the unexpected facility we were offered for our lessons – the local primary school. Despite its humble surroundings, we immediately saw the potential to create a thriving learning environment for the children of Aceh. The unique setting not only added an element of adventure to our mission but also reinforced our commitment to reaching every corner of the community.
